(Breathing Techniques)

Pranayama is the science of the yoga breath. Prana has been described as a subtle invisible force, the life-force that pervades the body. In this class we will explore the historical and physical effects of pranayama and we will practice several different breathing techniques from the most basic to more advanced forms. No previous experience with Pranayama breathing techniques is required.

Yoga Anatomy


Beginning Anatomy of Yoga

The heart of BYB yoga is anatomy. Anatomical insight is essential to the understanding and logic of adjustments and variations - and is crucial when dealing with injuries. In a creative and engaging environment explore basic anatomical terms relating to the mechanics of movement and learn the details of anatomy and physiology with special focus on safety as it relates to yoga. Understanding the mind and needs of a beginning yoga student is essential for all yoga teachers. Often group classes are lacking in the details and techniques that can offer important insight into how to properly and safely practice yoga. Yoga Core and Strength

The key to flexibility is strength. Yoga Core and Strength incorporates exercises from many disciplines including yoga, pilates, weight training and tai chi. It uses many different props which are all easily attainable for home use and also are typically found within most gym environments. The philosophies of proper body conditioning and the safe practice of exercise are emphasized during this course. This course emphasizes the details necessary for students to safely and effectively enhance their strength and conditioning body wide.

Sun Salutes

Yoga Sun Salutations can be invigorating and fun! They can be a complete practice in and of itself. These poses linked together in a series can lengthen and strengthen, flex and extend many of the main muscles of the body. The techniques for each different version will be taught with emphasis on the breath and proper alignment.

Yoga for the Core

Yoga for the Core - Abdominal and back muscles create movement as well as provide stability for your body. These important muscles assist in breathing, affect the alignment of the pelvis and the flexion, extension and rotation of the trunk. This dynamic workshop will focus on the development of the perfect balance of core strength and flexibility, suppleness, relaxation and awareness. Increased challenge will be offered for advanced levels and recuperative techniques will be discussed for those who suffer from neck and back issues. BYB Pink Ribbon Recuperative Yoga Specialist Training

The BYB Pink Ribbon Recuperative Yoga Intensive is an interactive, two-day, 12 hour course designed to share essential knowledge and information that is fundamental to the successful evaluation and rehabilitation of the breast cancer survivor. The center of training will be the balance of body, mind and spirit, utilizing knowledge of anatomy and the integration of information from the areas of functional exercise, shoulder rehabilitation, recuperative yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques. This course is open to anyone who has an open heart and who would like to offer a healing path for breast cancer survivors.

Dynamic Anatomy of the Spine

Anatomy Immersion of the Spine is an , interactive 6 hour course designed to share essential knowledge and information of anatomy and assessment, yoga asanas and muscle balancing recuperative techniques. In this training, you will immerse yourself in the anatomy of the spine, focusing on the bone structure, muscle attachments, tendons and ligaments. Learn how to develop optimal spinal posture and avoid injury in headstand, shoulder stand, back-bends, forward bends and spinal twists. Understand how to identify muscle imbalances and what we can do to resolve them. Apply your new learning to observe others and deepen the understanding of your own practice.

BYB Yoga Techniques

Skills for transformational yoga focus on the knowledge and understanding of poses - and the practice of how use the proper form. Enhance your observational skills to better assess your personal needs and limitations in your yoga.
