
Pranayama (Breathing Techniques) - Developing a Deep Breath
Pranayama is the science of the yoga breath. Prana has been described as a subtle
invisible force, the life-force that pervades the body.
In this class we will practice several
different breathing techniques from the most basic to more advanced forms to help us develop a deep breath.
No previous experience with Pranayama breathing techniques is required.
Special Attendance Options:
- Attend just the lecture portion of the class (12:30pm - 2pm).
- Attend the 11:30 Gentle Yoga class and then the following lecture until 2pm.
- Attend 9am Beginning/Intermediate yoga and then 11:30 Gentle Yoga followed by the lecture through 2pm.

Tai Chi - Four Corners Form
The origins of Tai Chi and yoga are similar in age and share many themes.
Tai Chi has often been described as a moving meditation. Its action enhance balance
and coordination and regular practice reduces stress.
Tai Chi is considered
synergistic with yoga and the practice of both can enhance the benefits of each
system dramatically.
This class will take showcase a form of Tai Chi that Julie Byrd has practiced and
taught for over two decades. We will explore a simplified version of this form that can be
learned in just a short time.
